  • Binding noise from new CV Joint

Had new CV joint fitted yesterday.
Got a new "wub wub wub" binding noise from same corner on the way home.
Took it back in today and the centre bolt stopping the driveshaft from coming out seemed overly tight as the CV splines stop about 10mm inside the hole...
So we had a look on the other side and the other CV spline was the same distance from the end of the hole.
The one I had done looked like pic 7 here

However the other side had 3 washers in the end of the spline to keep the centre bolt away from the surround slightly.

We stuck a washer in the new side and all's well...
    But, the question is why?
Is the new CV joint slightly shorter or am I missing some original washers?

The centre bolt doesn't keep the shaft from coming out - the circlip does. I think there's 2 different thicknesses of washer available to set end float.

Edit: Do you have manual hubs fitted ? I think there was talk of some brands rubbing the final bolt / washer..

    Here.
