  • steering damper - split pin removal - ideas?

not wanting to blunder again, re- my earlier post today...

I have been looking to replace my steering damper, but have difficulty figuring our how to remove castle nut and split pin where it attaches to relay-rod. As with all the split pins on my truck, its seized within the castle-nut,
BUT in this case, it looks to awkward to drill out, no space,
has anyone else had trouble extracting a split-pin in this situation, and an idea of how to remove it, so I can undo the castle nut and the ball-joint

    thanks again

If the split pin is really rusty you can break off most of it and then loads of oil and turn the nut so it wipes the remains of the split pin off. Once the nut is out of the way you can knock the remains of the pin out fairly easily.
