    hi what is used to seal the sump to the gearbox on a auto surf


    as its leaking badly from the joint

    bushwacker put something on there when i pick up the gearbox but its not worked

    RTV sealant.

    I used Reinzosil on mine.

      Postage is stupid expensive though, but at least there are gaskets out there.

      p.s.
      Yes I know it's for a Lexus but the oil pans are exactly the same shape and bolt hole pattern, just different capacities.

          Vince is there a demand for sump gaskets in the Lexus community then ?

          I happen to make the tools that cut gaskets for a living

            Not for the U.S communities, but I think they would sell well if they were readily available over here as they also fit all the Surf auto 'boxes.
            Start making the tooling Rob, gaskets are always better than the gloopy stuff.

              Not trying to thread-jack, but it sounds like our Surf is leaking transmission fluid from the same place - the joint between the auto box and the engine. Can I assume it's an engine-out job to repair?

                No, transmission out job.

                This is the likely culprit if it is definitely AFT thats leaking.....
