Prop shaft refitted and all lovely now. Much much smoother than before (as would of course be expected). Wasn't too bad a job to do for those wondering, just a fiddle without having a press, but posible none the less.

Next up.... erm... Some bumpers from Yoshie and some work on sealing the underside properly before winter i think...

Do apply in your average home garage? Normal hand tools and a hammer? Any pics if taking apart and refitting? Never done anything like this before and don't wanna mess it up as its my daily

I wouldn't say it is an average home garage, but the tools required aren't too specialist. The issue is more how stubborn the bearing caps are to remove.

Tools used:

1. Penetrating oil - plusgas industrial but 3m would do just fine
2. 14mm ring spanners
3. large vice - not essential but extremely helpful
4. large hammer
5. small hammer
6. (or a press to replace the large hammer and vice)
7. large socket or strong tube that you don't mind potentially denting with the hammer...
8. 2 block of wood taller than the diameter of the prop
9. sash clamps or friction clamps to hold the wood in place while hammering
10. workbench or solid surface lower to the ground than waist height (makes it easier to swing the hammer...)
11. 2 sockets just smaller than the diameter of the bearing caps

Then basically follow the video I posted at the start of this thread, taking care to note all the advice they give. You can be pretty brutal with the hammer but be careful on the prop side of the uj as obviously too much damage will require a new prop. Tiny dents/chips will not have much effect but if you start taking hugh chunks out then you will need to use the vice or press method instead.
You may find that if you end up using the vice mthod (to put the new bearings ins) that it jams at points on the way as you use the 2 sockets either side of the mearing caps to squeeze the caps in. As long as the caps aren't distoring or visibly bending it is usual for them to jam a little but they will straighten up. You would have to use common sense here as to how much force to use before they "jump" back straight again.
