did a body lift (2") on a 3l auto, now i noticed the lever it doesnt stay where it should, like when i select 2 it can get L, or when i select N is not properly on position unless i press the button is on top the lever,
any ideas, pics? how to do it? thanks.

On most autos there is adjustment on cable either at box end or near lever it consists of two nuts on threaded end of cable and is adjusted by slackening lock nut then either tightening or loosening the cable.Set g/box lever in N and adjust cable to suit. Hope this helps

As I mentioned in the last thread, doing a body lift shouldn't upset the gear selection on an automatic. Did you check to see if the cable had caught anywhere?

yup (its a 2nd gen) no cable, just a flat bar it goes to gear box, released a nut there to try to adjust it, but didn't make any difference, still the same

My bad. I assumed it was a cable.

Mine needed adjustment after replacing the gearbox. Put the gear lever in Park, then loosen the end of the bar underneath that has the long slot it in. Then put the gearbox lever (on the actual gearbox under the truck) Properly into park. Then tighten up the lock nut and you should be sorted.

yeap i played with the slot, but still the same.
but i noticed on the other end of the slotted bar there is a bit of a play, is that normal?

Yep bit of play is normal. If you can't get it adjusted then maybe you need to fab up a new bar the right length. Never heard of anyone on here needing to though.

Have you definitely put the gearbox into park with the bar disconnected ? Pull it all the way back towards the rear of the truck.
