Horrible clunk and now no reserve or neutral!
Hello people!
I hope you might be able to help me. I have a 1990 2.4 auto. It's been well maintained and seems pretty sound. 130k km.
Anyhoo! It's had a bit of a "thunk" noise when driving slowly whilst turning and going over lumps/curbs/uneven ground. Apparently this is kind of normal.
But that sound has got quite extreme, like a torque/ and clunk. (so technical!) I'm not sure if this sound is related but around the same time the isolation switch in the gear leaver has been playing up, it does however still work. Then a couple days ago I pulled into my BF's drive, the car made one hek of a noise and now I don't have reverse! I don't have neutral either. It's either forward or park!
Have checked the fluid levels, all good and a healthy clear red, no bad smell etc.
Still drives beautifully and changes through the gears well.
Any thoughts??
