Aircon recharge frequency

My dad asked me if there's any point recharging the aircon as a service thing.

In other words is the system likely to become more efficient with a recharge although he is happy with its functioning at the moment, but where the car has climate control it's hard to tell if its working efficiently.

Its a 2005 Skoda with interstellar mileage 150000 iirc.

Does the refrigerant go off or loose cooling power over time?

The gas will leak out over time ,the compressor is driven off the drive belts and as such has its own crankshaft and seal (open drive).
How much it has lost will depend on many things,however if it isnt broke don't fix it.
