In the process of changing the fixed brake lines. I removed the tank pulled out the fuel pump/float assy and found in the bottom of the tank a small lump of white and yellow plastic in the bottom of the tank.
On reading the haynes manual it appears to be part of "Fuel evaporation vent tube" and the lump of plastic was the "fuel cut off valve" so stop fuel leaking out of the vent.
My question is why is it necessary to have 2 breathers on the tank? I only ask as this so called broken evaporation vent has been leaking fuel down the side of the tank and making a mess. I'd like to seal it completely but I'm not sure if this is such a good idea....
Any advice would be most welcome.
Mike
