I had a similar issue the other day. Left the car parked for 10 days, went to jump in it and used the truck. Stopped and the key wouldn't come out yet it was in P. The way I managed to get the key out was to switch the ignition on and pretend to start the car without disabling the immobiliser and then quickly turn it to the off position. Only did this twice and not done it since so I guess it was a sticky switch/sensor or something due to not being used for a while.

Probably not related to your issue, thought I would comment though

Sometimes if there is pressure on the steering wheel it will cause the key to stick in the ignition. Try moving the steering wheel side to side next time this happens and see if it helps.

I seem to recall something to do with a duff brake light bulb causing the same problem no doubt someone will be along shortly to ridicule or support the theory. Maybe i was dreaming it

I've got a side light out and can't get the fuel to stay in my tank, are these related?

Nope you have a leak......it's associated with the pedal on the right, when pressed the fuel leaks through the cylinder and down the exhaust!!!

No, just run a pipe from exhaust to fuel tank filler and you will be able to go forever.

Mine used to do that, if u push the gear select a little more into park position it releases the key. U should hear it click too when u slide it into park, there is a small switch under the plastic which needs to be pushed all the way in by the gear selector.
                  ALL THE GEAR!............no idea!
