2.4 cuts out when driving...intermittent fault

Greetings one and all, I am a new/old user, been kinda busy for the last 5 yrs or so, great to see the forum is still going..onto my question, having searched the forum I'll be asking here then!

Looking at a 2.4 diesel Surf, owner reports that the diesel pump had seals replaced a wee while ago and now it cuts out intermittently, sometimes it might cut out 5 times in one trip and then be fine for next 5 days.

I'm picking that either the pump needs to be replaced or it's another fueling issue....does anyone know any better?

Your help most appreciated as I'm thinking of buying this one but don't have the spare cash to throw around if it turns out to be a real lemon!

Sounds like a loose wire on or around the pump, could just be a plug not home properly, or it might be a nightmare of a broken wire if someone yanked the wires trying to unplug them.
