  • Quick question re front driveshaft.

After fitting new discs, bearings and calipers a few weeks ago, the o/s CV boot has decided that now would be a good time to split ,deep joy.

If I undo the drive shaft at the inboard end and remove the bolt at the other end, will the shaft just slide out of the hub or do I have to remove the whole hub assembly again?

    Thanks.

You don't need to remove hub, there is a good write up on the aussie site but it is essentially as you describe. Need to split a ball joint and jack the lower suspension arm to give yopu enough 'wiggle' room. Will try and find link later when I have time.

There's a snap ring and spacer on the shaft (hub end) that has to be removed as well. Undo bottom shock mount and sway bar link as well. When you jack the vehicle up place a block between upper control arm and bump stop so you can keep the drive shaft as straight as possible.
