3rd Gen Arches + trim

Has anyone here removed the arch extensions and lower door tims on a 3rd gen?

It looks like they are fixed with pull out clips, I was just wondering how well they pull out, or do they just snap, or worse stay in the truck and tear the mounts on the trim?

I'd like to pull mine off to rust proof behind them (plus they need re painting) but if half the clips break it'll be one of those jobs I wish I'd never started....

so anyone that has experiance of removing them please share your thoughts!
