  • Could someone confirm this please?

Hello, I'm currently changing all the fluids in my surf and I've got a little stuck on the front diff.
I've found the drain plug easy enough and I'm assuming this bolt in the centre of the picture is for refilling but I would like to check for definate before removing it.
the picture was taken from the front of the surf looking backwards

Also whilst changing the fuel filter I noticed this pipe with a screw in the end. It appears to be attached to a one way valve or filter and its other end connects to what looks like the throttle body although I could be wrong.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what it's for?

Thanks very much. There was something else important I had to ask but my brain has deserted me, if I remember I'll edit the post.

That is the filler plug, same size as the drain plug. Make sure you can get the filler plug out first.

The vacuum hose probably went to the EGR.

Many thanks, that looks to be a job for tomorrow then.
Is it worthwhile reconnecting the EGR? I've heard it mentioned that it's frequently disconnected, but I'd assumed it was mainly the 2.4 that had issues with it.

I feel a search coming on

Leave it disconnected, it's not needed in the UK.
