Radiator Drop brackets - where from/needed??

Hi all

me again with probably another simple question..

I've read up on nearly all the body lift threads in preperation for attempting doing mine..

50mm kit ordered from Xpajun

one thing i'm reading all the time is Rad drop brackets..

Some posts say not needed as thereis bolt holes, some say 4 needed and a lot say 2 needed

unless I'm blind am missing some vital posts, do i need them?

is there a magical bolt hole lower down that the rad can bolt into..

If i do need them, does anyone on here sell them - or could knock up some for me (in which case can you do a couple of bumper brackets too??)

aha-hum, should have gone to a real shop....

My body lifts come with everything you need, rad drop brackets, bumper lift brackets, right length bolts, real instructions etc....

In fact, everything the ebay ones don't.





You need the rad brackets if you want to keep the fan shrould, which is quite advisable on a 2.4 for air flow through the rad.

I might be able to sort you out the missing parts from the 'kit' you bought, if its worth it.....

Tony you have to have the rad lowered anyway even if you don't keep the shroud due to the rad being higher than the filler cap don't you.
Not picking holes or anything but just info if newbies read this

I assume you have to raise/move the gear lever (man or auto) and the handbrake?

Do you have to change any control cables or brake or clutch lines?

Coolant pipes to front and rear heater matrixes?

Ditto fuel tank lines to filler cap?

Does the OE steering column have enough to deal with a 50mm lift?

I don't want a body lift was just thinking....

Stormforce - surely having the rad cap so much higher would facilitate the refill and burping of the coolant system - although when i did mine I blew it through and left the heater pipes of as a bleed which seemed to work well.

On the 2.4's the filler cap isn't on the rad like the 3.0's so the 2.4 rad HAS to be lowered whereas the 3.0 you can just take the lower rad shroud off and leave the rad where it was.
You don't need to do anything when doing a 2" bodylift but you may have to just trim a bit of the trans tunnel if the hi/lo lever don't engage properly.
The fuel filler pipe you just need to slacken off as with the steering column so they can adjust themselves.Anymore than 2" you will have to modify parts
Just noticed you have a manual truck so you may need to trim out the trans tunnel for both levers

I wouldn't touch the fuel filler, it's a pain to get back on after the lift, just allow it to stretch a bit, it has a corrugated section. Have someone keep an eye on it as you jack the body.

Me too. I wouldn't mind a kit with all the brackets for bumper and rad included.

David at Llama4x4 does a kit for a very reasonable price and he knows his stuff.

I'm thinking of selling my truck now that I've gone and bought stupidly big wheels for it and buying a ready 4&4 lifted one I know is for sale.
