  • Turbo rebuild!

I will need to either get a new turbo or sort out the one I have. My turbo is sucking oil and the vanes are wobbly (technical term)

Assuming I want to fix the one I have what will I need to get? and where from?

Or is it worth getting one from a breaker? Or would new be better?

    Input appreciated!

you need a turbo rebuild kit for your specific turbo...you'll find the turbo codes on the core to know which kit to buy...the kit will have new seals an bearins etc...they have to be rebuilt proprerly the inlet and exhaust blades will need to be balanced to each other if there not it'll jus wobble itself to death until until the blades come in contact wit the housing

If I were to buy this:

        http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toyota-CT20-Tu...-/320573769706

How big a job is it to fit? Do I need any special tools?

Turbo technics really know their stuff, I have had a couple of cars worked on by them.

          They also build hybrid turbos
          More Lift.
          More Tyres.
          More Engine.

TBH Lee for the money then i would go for that new one. You'll pay half that price anyway for a 2nd hand turbo which may last years or a week.I know the same can be said for a new one but at least a new one ain't been hamme
You can get the 5 relevent gaskets from Toyota. If you want the part numbers let me know.
The 2.4 turbo will be easier than the 3.0 turbo due to where its mounted. If you be careful then you can re-use the turbo to manifold and turbo to exhaust pipe gaskets.I have got a 2.4 turbo off within a couple of hours and that wasn't rushing and all the bolts/nuts come off easy
