Hello to everyone,
I have recently purchased an AMC head from roughtrax, as my 1996 3.0ltr head cracked the other day. Everything is assembled and almost ready to be placed onto the block, however the exhaust manifold gasket supplied seems way to thin (i.e. 2 ply) compared to the original gasket (i.e. 8 ply), I fear if I use this gasket I will then be in a situation where the turbine outlet will not align to the manifold, due to the fact that the manifold will now be sitting closer to the block, also the EGR pipe work will surley be affected. The chap at roughtrax said 'that the gasket is correct for my for my Surf ? even though it said '1993- Landcruiser on the gasket kit' therefore has anyone fitted this gasket without any issues? if not:
1. Can you re-use the old original turbine outlet and exhaust manifold gaskets and if so will I need to apply a high temp copper RTV sealant to the face of each gasket?
2. With regard to the water temp sender and the blanking plug to the right of the sender, I can see that the sender has no gasket and appears to tighten up onto a coned seat, also the blanking plug appears to have a tapered thread, do I need to use any ptfe tape or jointing compound on either of theses fittings? if not what are their torque settings ( in N.M.), as the downloaded toyota manual does not show these torque figures.
Hopefully someone has got the answers, thanks in advance, Fantastic forum, Charles.
