  • Dodgy brakes!

Think I'm gonna have to get a professional to check this out :/

Sometimes when I press the brake pedal, it feels like it doesnt go down far enough (like something is stopping it), even though it feels like they are still doing their job.

Driving home last night, I pulled over for a bite to eat, but when I started driving, it felt like the truck was pulling to the right. Before I could even pull over to inspect (I was on a motorway doing 100kph), the right front tyre exploded. I pulled up onto the grass and the tyre was smoking and the wheel was hot as! Changed wheel, and was on my merry way with no more issues.

This morning, I braked to turn a corner, and nothing happened for a second, then there was a knock in the pedal (hard to describe but I felt something give way under my foot), and then the brakes came on good.

Anyone experienced anything like this? I haven't had the truck that long, so I'm still learning its little idiosyncrasies.

    Sounds like Binding brakes.

Jack it up and check one by one they all turn freely whilst pressing the releasing the brake pedal hard (engine on for servo).

If you're lucky a good clean with brake cleaner and greasing the moving parts, if less new seals in the pistons/slave cylinders.

Whilst checking inspect the rubber brake pipes for kinks that may stop the fluid returning.

Where's the face slap thing when it's neded?

You have (had) 2 problems. There is, or seems to be, something wrong with your brakes; take your truck to a grown up for diagnosis and repair.

The other (now non) issue was a puncture.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

ive had something very similar to this happen to me. without the puncture tho.
did your pedal stay firm or does it sink to the floor.

one of my brake lines was corroded and when it burst thats what i felt giving way as you put it.
best to check your fluid level.
i replaced all pipes with copper nickel ones and new flexis too.
        hope this helps.

Hahahahaha, ya make me p1ss with these comments, you did one a while back (think it was you) someone was asking what needs to happen to achieve a 2" body lift and you said "the body will need moving away from the chassis about 2"... Or something along them lines!

          Made me chuckle ;-)
