  • Which engine

Hi, this is probably a stupid question, but I picked up a j-reg surf yesterday, ssrg, whatever that means. On the body, it says 3.0, and it was listed as a 3.0, but, the logbook says it's a 2.4.. Is there anyway I can find out which engine I actually have, I have never seen a surf engine, so don't know if they look the same or completely different.

    Thanks in advance

Does it say EFI on the pipe accross the top of the engine and is the turbo high up in the engine bay?
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

J reg should be a 2.4, 3.0's came along in 93', L reg should be the oldest 3.0 you'll find.

It's definately supposed to be a 2.4, the plate in the engine bay says 2440 as engine size.

It does say efi turbo diesel across the pipe on top of engine, and turbo is almost top of the engine on the left side.

Hope you didn't pay 3.0 price!

If you're not bothered its still a decent truck, but 3.0's command much better prices for the same truck apart from engine.

Maybe need a word with seller?

I did a straight swap for an mg f that owed me £300! So I think I got it at a good price regardless of the engine size. It is absolutely spotless, apart from a rusted corner piece on back bumper. Recaro seats, extra wide arches, etc. It pulls like an absolute train.

The link above has been very helpful, apart from some minor differences, i think my engine is the 2.4. The ad fir the truck stated it was a 3.0, whuch is the reason i went for it, i had a 2.4 BRIEFLY(less than 24hrs), it was slow to the point of dangerous, so decided not to go for another, luckily, this 2.4 pulls like a train, so im happy.
