  • brake judder - BUT with new discs and pads

    as title

replaced front pads and discs on 4runner recently,
    wheel bearings not loose

but still getting wheel judder when braking hard

    any ideas?
I'm going to bleed the system too, as brakes don't feel as strong as i reckon they should be

      yes - to eliminate that
I replace the idler arm bushes (worn) a couple of weeks ago. The idler arm is firm now, as is the balljoint.
I have also relplace all the track rod ends - not a job I want to do in a hurry again - on a 9yr old truck

Possible that one of the discs is not sitting flat on the hub, bit of dirt behind it, spin each wheel to see if disc runs free of pads all the way round or touches at one point.
Say not always what you know, but always know what you say.

you may have used the brakes to hard as they should be worn in before any heavy breaking, done that my self with the same symptoms as you have........

            thanks guys

raised the truck, spun the front wheels and RH side wheel and disc touching pad at a point when spinning - like a buckled bicycle wheel. LH side fine.
So looks like hub has to come apart again, when I have a few hours to spare... so i can get the disc flat on hub..
