plastic pipe clipped to the sump

hey fellas...had quick look under the surf today(3rd gen)an found a plastic pipe that comes down to the sump nut on the engine an is clipped in place about 10mm above the nut itself...looks like its comin from the top of the diff or somewhere up there i couldn see where exactly...its open on the end an pointin downward jus wonderin wat it is?the pipe itself only has about a 6-8mm openin
i had a pic but photobucket is all changed around an cant figure out how to upload pics on it now

The pipe you refer to is connected to the oil filter tray. When you change the filter it is upside down, so a little bit spills, and drains down that tube, into your container, which is under the sump plug. Simples
