Adjusting the tracking

I've just taken the Surf to my local garage to get the tracking sorted and we have had some issues with it.

The o/s adjuster didn't have enough thread to pull the wheel into line (brand new part) and one wheel was about a cm further forward compared to the other.

We ended up releasing the steering wheel to get the toe correct but still couldn't correct the offset of the wheels.

Are there any other adjustment points we missed?

Not enough thread on the adjuster??

Has the truck been in an accident or have incompetent mechanics been fiddling?

there's a camber adjuster on the lower wishbone, but castor (if thats what you're referring to when you say one wheel is an inch further forward) cannot be adjusted.

I'm thinking if there's a lot of negative camber, that could cause more thread than normal to be used on the tracking adjustment, but I'm sure if the camber was that far out, it would be easily visible. If I remember correctly, there was about 1/2" of visible thread either end on my adjusters when it was set correctly.

One wheel further forward does sound like something is bent.

Sorry I've not got my technical head on today.

I asked Dave (the mechanic) if it was an issue with the castor and he said it wasn't. Summat like thrust angle if I remember correctly.

If I can get my mitts on a pdf of the repair manual I'll be able to have a look at all the suspension adjustments.

The suspension work was done by Lee (supersurf) and from what I've heard he knows his stuff.

The 'adjuster' is the same as the tie rod adjustment on the Mk1



I'm guessing it'll be a tie rod as well (duh to me).
