  • Newb tyre question

Picked up my truck and should hopefuly be going to tony very soon for a service etc

one thing i've noticed that my front tyres are pretty much new, but the rears have tread but are perishing on both between the tread and more worringly on the side walls..

So they obviously need changing - as my budget is dwindling rapidly i cant afford to replace all 4 of the tyres, but I do want some chunkier A/T tyres..

The ones on my truck at the mo are bridgstones and seem to have a more road focused tread pattern - now I may be talking out of my arse as i havent really a clue - but I've read somewhere before that front n rear tyres need to be matched in style/tread pattern etc..

    so my question..

Should i put on the same tyres as i have on the front on the rears - then when funds allow, get another set of rims with an A/T (off road/winter) tyres on - which I know the sensible answer should be weekday/summer road tyres on one set and on the other set have the A/T - winter - off road tyres??

Or coud i just whack on some AT tyres on say the rear and run it till i can afford to change the fronts (is it safe??)

as long as you have the same tyre on the same axel you will be ok.I would just go for some AT's as they will be good all round tyres for what you will need

I knew you would know.. Cheers Rich

Any recomendations of a good affordable all rounder

I was looking on black circle and they recomend a Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S G012 as a good all rounder..

at about £95 a corner.. is really pushing the budget

Pick up a copy of TOR if you can find one. Lots of tyre ads in there, and some cheap bargains to be had on very serviceable ATs if you aren't too brand conscious.

Have a look at Kumho Road Venture AT KL78.

I just fitted 4 of these and I am very happy with them.

Got them from Camskill at a good price.

31 10.5 R15 on standard suspension (I Don't know what that is in new money).

I've been running Khumo ATs since my girl was imported in 2003, and she's on her second set now. Can't say I've ever had any problems.

swmbo insists that they should have white letters on the tyres.. so what she says, she will get..

Just put a set of GT Savero HT plus on my gen 3, £297.12 fully fitted from Black Circles. Much better on road than the Dunlop AT21's I have just taken off both wet & dry and got my through some serious mud whilst out fishing this week. Highly recommended so far but I have not yet tried them in very cold / snowy conditions.

                      Cheers

                      Ben

                        You guessed right.

It's more tyre / wheel adverts than anything else these days.
