From what I've read on here, there's no stat or anything in the way, just pipes from the cooling system to the matrix.
If the blower's working, then it can only be a blocked pipe, matrix, or the pipes aren't connected.
If it were me I'd disconnect one (if you can get to a pipe end) and see what comes out....ie hot or cold fluid and work from there. Have you done a flush?

the pipes run under the truck in the trans tunnel. If they aren't connected to the rear mtrix then the pipes will be blocked

If the lines are blocked ( or even disconnected) and no hot water is getting to the matrix, it will blow cold. What else could it do?

you will need to remove the centre consol to get to the rear matrix. There are 2 screws inside the top of the consol and i think 4 (2each side) of the consol. You will need to disconnect the pipes from under the bonnet and also on the matrix to totally unblock the pipes with some thick wire or something

the fan is what blows the air , so if the pipes are blocked or capped of then there will be not hot water around the matrix so the fan will always blow cold air as its not being heated??

On the drivers side near the bulkhead are two branch pipes which lead back to the matrix, try disconnecting both then stick a hose on one, flush that through for a while, disconnect and attach to the other pipe and flush back the other way, the matrix will be blocked with rust or other crap. I'd then be doing a full flush of the rad and block then the front heater pipework too before replacing the coolant with fresh, blocked waterways spell disaster on these things. H

Its just a fan really and a mini radiator, follow my last post before stripping inside, imo its easier, the blower works so why take it apart, and if the pipework won't allow anything through then replace the branch pipes with some tubing and forget you had a rear heater. H

i just thought by taking both ends off that you wouldn't be pushing the cra p through the matrix where it could possibly block that

Sounds like its already stuffed though, he can always get a replacement from your kind self if he wants to replace it if it won't flush clear. H

Check the condition of the metal pipes under the body. Mine were quite rusty and leaked after I did a coolant system flush. I have disconnected the rear heater now.
