  • 2LTE suddenly stalls when warm

    Hi everybody,

I am new to this site but have found it very useful when searching so far, so hope to get some advice on my little problem:

My Landcruiser LJ78 sometimes suddenly stalls when coasting towards a traffic light/stop sign when I hit the clutch to take out the gear/shift down. On the odd occasion it has also done this when idling at a light. It only happens when the engine is warm and I have been driving it for about 20min or more.
What I have done so far and didn’t solve the problem:
    - blocked off the egr with the steel plate
    - blocked 3 vac hoses of the vacuum valve (UFO shaped thing) going to the small butterfly
    - I then replaced the fuel pipes coming from the tank to the filter, the one from the filter to the IP and the one coming back from the IP to the tank with clear hoses and checked for bubbles. Except for the bubbles after I changed the pipes they seem to be clear and without air.
    - I also blew bank into the tank to free it from any possible gunk.

I don't think it's the solenoid as it always works well when it starts and then runs for about 30-40 minutes. Also, it always stalls at the same location after a long and quite steep downhill bit where I need no gas, when I stop to shift into first gear to get up our driveway. Any clues as to how to identify what it might be? I'd hate to randomly start exchanging parts. I have searched this and a few other sites quite extensively but couldn’t find anything matching my problem, despite the load of other useful information (e.g. EGR).

    Any help much appreciated,

    Tim
