  • 3.0l head removal

    Hi Folks

I think I'm ready to lift this off now, only head bolts to remove. I've managed to strip all the external garbage apart from the manifolds and can see nothing else to remove but while trawling the search on a night one thread said something about an earth lead and possibly something else down the back of the motor, I've been underneath both sides and can see nothing, can't get my hands in so can feel nothing either, questions.

1 Will I be able to get at this once the head bolts are free?
2 Can I leave the backing plate of the timing belt and all valves/cam in place while lifting also?

Think a Tonyn post said this way was easier, but I've been reading so much I could be mistaken. All help gratefully appreciated, just hope I don't have bigger problems than the head but I'll find that out in the morning I reckon. tia. H

you can lift it off and move it forward a bit and then remove the earth lead from the back of the head. It attaches under the EGR pipe. There is a small vacuum pipe between the head and block at number 4 cyl too. It's quite heavy even though it's aluminium. You can leave timing bolt cover on or off and all valves/cam in place.

Cheers for that, I knew something else was mentioned but my head is scrambled at the mo, looks like its off in the morning then, thanks again. H
