  • Body Lift/Auto 'Box question.

My truck has a body lift of 4", already done when i bought it. I am slowly ironing out faults with the vehicle, which has lead me to my next question.
The truck has an Auto box, which works fine, until you use the High/Low ratio 'box.
The truck goes into 4wd when the button is pressed, but because the selecter is now 4" higher than it should be, the 'box won't select low range when you use the selecter.
Obviously loads of people have 2" lifts, so how do you get round this problem?

I'm assuming It's a 2nd gen. If so you will have to cut away some of the steel away from the transmission tunnel so the lever can move all the way home. I did this on my 2" body lift, so with a 4" lift some thing drastic needs doing!

i would try removing the transfer lever, heating it up and bending it to try and clear the body work and make it engage fully,i would of thought that the lever had been elongated when the body lift was done if not then cut it in half and weld an extension piece on and crank it to suit.

I think you would be assuming wrongly. Im sure its a 3rd gen 2.7 petrol, although in this case Id think the same advice would stand.

These are the nicest solution, but not sure they fit a 3rd Gen T/Case withot seening one.

              Hi!
Ive just put a 3" lift on my 3rd Gen!
I had to cut around the left hand side of the transfer leaver to get it to engage into L4w.
The lever was a lot lower when I finnished but works well.
