Advice needed for changing just the inner CV boot on the front of my KZN103 surf. Do I need to release the driveshaft from the hub.....or can I simply unbolt the inner off the gearbox and change the cv boot leaving the driveshaft still attached to the hub?

Thanks for the link, I had already looked at this site but am still not clear if I can get to replace the inner CV boot without removing the driveshaft from the hub. I am also a little concerned how I will jack up the wishbome to get it parallel to the ground as I have a 2" suspension lift which naturally puts the wishbone at quite an angle. You can live in a car....but you can't drive a house!!

It'll be tricky, the hardest part is getting the inner CV past the bolts, that what you need the wishbone level for, and you need to do this before you can do anything.
You can try knocking one or two of the pressed in bolts out from the diff flange, this will give you a little more roomv to drop the shaft down through the wishbone.
Or undo the lower ball joint, and pull the hub out further, but wedge something in the upper bumpstop to stop the upper wishbone pushing down to far.
But TBH, once you've done all this, you may as well remove the drive plate, and take the whole shaft out anyway, this way you can grease the bushes in the hub, and its usually sensible to change both CV boots to save taking it out again later.4x4toys.co.uk - Keeping you on and off the road...

Thanks TonyN, i have ordered both CV boots so will remove the shaft and clean, grease and replace both boots. Being as I dont think I will get the wishbone horizontal due to the 2" suspension lift I will have to remove the bottom ball joint. Is it best split the bottom ball joint from the hub, or unbolt the joint from the wishbone? You can live in a car....but you can't drive a house!!

Ringo, i cant see the 2" sussy lift making it any more difficult.
Undo the nuts at the diff flange end, remove all the gubbins at the drum end.
(it will help enormously if you can get the whole front end up on a pair of axle stands )
By turning the steering side to side you can wiggle it free of the bolts at the diff end. then you will need to put a jack under the lower wishbone and gently raise it until you get enough clearance to wiggle the half shaft out!
