Hi i've got a problem trying to move the autostick from park, the only way it will move is by pressing the RED thing. I've tried brake on/off and everything that i can think of, is there some form of inhibitor switch, and if so were do i find it?. By the way it's on a 92 2.4. Cheers in advance

The key must be in the on or acc position before you can move it.

Sorry to be dumb, but forgot to mention the engine is running etc the only way that I can engage any position is to use the red thing to move the stick from park. The button on top of the stick seems not to move as far as it should.

there is a small solonoid at the base of the stick that is dis engaged by the bed button or electronicly by pressing the brake, you should be able to here a little click when you brake, if not the it might be either the switch (for the brake lights as well (i think not looked) or the solonoid its self) also it might just be sticking or if you fave had it apart at all then it might not have been put back right , it can be a bit of a fidle, i would whip it apart end see if it is gettinj juice and go from there.
so much to do , so little money , so little time

If the button is not moving all the way down, maybe there is something damaged in there. It's not a big job to remove the surround from the stick and have a look around. You might spot the problem then!

Thanks for the help guys, it turned out to be the brake light fuse had blown, caused by a dodgy lamp. Major repair called for cost 20 pence.
