    Sorry to butt in but back to the topic at hand.

    Posh, its a 3rd gen so you can use 4wd on any surface, hard or loose makes no difference.

    Have you tryed to move the 4wd lever into any of the other 4wd gears?
    If its not broke don't fix it.

      Yes mate. Still the same problem, which is weird. Could it be to do with the oil levels in the central diff do you think?

        It could be but TBH im not an expert on these things but as ive always been told, start with the obvious & cheapest ways first before spending cash on things you don't need.
        If its not broke don't fix it.

            The front diff has a temp sensor, that switches off 4wd if the front diff gets to hot, maybe this has malfunctioned.
