I have a 1988 Hilux 2.4D that I use on our land, and it won't start after being stood during the winter. I replaced the fuel filter prior to trying to start the engine, but fuel is not getting to the filter. I've also replaced the fuel cut off solanoid, and power is reaching the solanoid terminal. I've also slackened the injector nuts and cranked the engine, but still no fuel coming through although there is plenty in the tank. I'm new to diesel engines, any suggestions please?

Might be an obvious question but did you prime the system after changing the fuel filter?
If your Surf is like most diesels, there will be a plunger on top of the filter housing, pumping this will draw fuel from the tank.......
There's one on mine but I can't say how necessary it is to use it cos after changing my Filter I only had to pump it a couple of times and she started first time......

I filled the filter with diesel, and pumped the primer for ages. Next I disconnected the supply pipe to the filter and sucked the pipe through a transparent tube. A small amount of diesel came through with lots of air bubbles in it. I'm thinking that there is possibly a leak somewhere in the fuel pipes near the tank, what do you think?
Thanks
