I'm from the states and recently bought a half cut 1KZTE to put into a 4runner...I did all of the work and drive it around for two days. Unfortunately on day 2 it started running on 3 cyl. I did a lot of tests, found 110 PSI in #1 and 500 in the other three jugs.

Pulled the head, looks good. Pressure tested and valves held vacuum.

Bore hole of #1 looks scraped a wee bit. Pulled #1 piston and found it was cracked. Bearings look good at least.

So now I'm looking for a rebuild kit. I can see in the other 3 bores were the rings had stuck as if the car had sat for a long, long time.

Does anyone know of a good kit?

Hi Matt.Sorry i never got back to you again but i have not had chance to do a search to see where to get the kits.Hope you manange to get it sorted tho
I have got a kzte short block here but i haven't a clue how to strip the interiors out or i would do that.The engine was good apart from the head going
