  • Battery Chargers & Conditioners

    Hi, All.

I'm looking for a battery charger and conditioner that's suitable for a 3.0TD Surf.

Hopefully one that can charge deep cycle batteries, too.

I've found 2 chargers on ebay, links below, but they don't appear to be able to recondition. Does anyone have a opinion or an alternate recomendation, please.

You need a 3 staged charger for leisure batteries, otherwise you'll cook them (too much voltage)

    Try numax or c-tek.

(need to buy one myself so did a bit of searching a while back)

Is the new C-Tek XS4003 suitable for charging 3.0TD batteries, or is it just overkill?

I was going to buy this one if that helps.

The one you linked to looks a little small for big leisure batteries.

          I bought a CTEK Multi XS 3600

I have 2 batteries on my surf. Is it possible to charge both batteries without removing them from the vehicle?

          Edit...
          Think I found the answer

I may well disconnect them just to be on the safe side.

You can connect the charger to 1 battery and it will charge both. Some people disconnect the battery leads before charging the battery as they say it will damage some delicate electronic stuff, but I haven't found this to be a problem on either of my surfs.

If you're worried you can disconnect the battery leads, then put jump leads between your batteries and connect the charger to the jump leads.
