Hiya folks!
I have a wee problem with my brakes, which first appeared after replacing all pads/shoes and discs a few months back - but is steadily getting worse.
The problem is this...
when the car has been stood for a while (like overnight, or parked at work for 8 hours) when i go to drive it and press the brakes - they squeal very loudly. after a couple more presses of the pedal - the squealing stops.
OK - maybe a bit surface rust forming on the discs - no problem, but if i press the brakes a little firmer, the O/S/R wheel locks up and skids along the road. - Again after a few press of the pedal - all is well.
By pressing "firmer" I mean the sort of force required to brake gently from 20MPH to standstill when approaching a t junction coming out of a built up street.
The brakes - when warm stop the car firmly and surely with no pulling to ether side and no fade when stopping from motorway speeds. the fluid level is good and fluid is in good condition ( changed last year) with no air in system.
Just cant understand how a rear drum would lock up when braking - as if all braking force was being applied to that one wheel.
any thoughts - or similar experiences???
