I'd start with the basics and check/replace the air/fuel filters first.

Ah one of the helpfull people I was refering to

Matt here's a bit more info on the problem above

"i bought the above vehicle about 3 mnths ago, everythin was runnin ok until a couple of wks ago, it started 2 cut out out when slowing down i.e comin 2 a t junction, it also cuts out when its in idle, tickover has dropped 2 about 550, and now the colder weather has come it seems 2 take ages 2 start in a morning, so i took it 2 a garage and he did a diagnostic check, he told me the solenoid on the diesel pump has gone, can i jus get the solenoid or should i replace the pump? also there was also a slight oil leak from the head, he said it needs skimming and a new head gasket kit, this is why its takin a while 2 kick in in the mornings he says because the head is loosin pressure, any kind of help would be most appreciated thanx lee"

First thing is not to take it to that garage again. 2nd, do as Matt said. 3rd, do a diagnostic check on the ECU and tell us about it. 4th, replace the glow plugs.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's
