hi folks, i'm after some advice.
my surf was suffering from poor stopping power and rubbish handbrake that wouldnt keep the lump still if left in drive at traffic lights and such. the surf's main job is pulling trailers so the lack of stopping power was getting scary! this problem got worse in a progressive kind of way so i naturally assumed the pads and shoes were wearing out as apposed to something was broken.
i changed the rear shoes first but found that to get the handbrake to hold and get reasonable stopping force the shoes had to be pretty much be on the drums all the time! the rear wheels are really tight now and although the surf has no problem overcoming the extra friction pulling its own weight, it struggles with anything else.
today i've had the near side front caliper off and found that one of the four pots is stuck in, leading to uneven wear on the pad and probably crap braking. is this a common surf problem? also i've found air in the system again after i blead it two weeks ago, which is never going to help!!
cheers for any help!
