  • front end vibration when braking-KZN185

    Can anyone help.

When braking medium/hard the whole truck seems to vibrate. driving around the doors and braking isnt a problem. Just really say when coming off a dual carriageway up a sliproad and slowing down to a stop.
I have replaced both front discs, pads, rear shoes, rear drums were checked ok.

There is no vibration through the steering wheel though thats what I cannot understand.

Could it be anything to do with ARB bushes or anything else?

Or anyone in the North east who could look at it. I will pay them of course

hi kevin dont take my word for it but have you checked the uj on the back propshaft. i was getting a vibrating grinding noise on my truck n done wheel bearings etc but found out it was the uj afterwards now thats done no probs.

have a read of my thread on 2.4 2.8 tech called ''front diff bearing'' n see if its the same as what i was getting hope it helps m8

I'll second your thoughts on checking the UJs on the rear propshaft

        Hi Kevin,

Both mine, and my son's 2.4's, do just the same
as yours, I've checked both and can't find any thing
wrong. So putting it down to an accumulation of play
in all those steering joints. I.E. 1/4mm here 1/4mm there
can all add up to quite a bit of play. I just brake a bit
earlier, and a bit softer, to ease the problem.
        Hope this helps.

        Gman.

EDIT: At MOT time inspector said brakes were very
        good on our trucks.
