  • Hlux Surf Broken Chassis

    Hi,

I recently took my Surf into the garage for a full service and to repair various problems. After repairing everything, which cost a bundle, I was then told that the chassis was broken and would needed to be welded. This has been done. However, they also told me that I should only use the car for short distances and if it was in any other country (I am in Mozambique) the car would have been written off.

My knowledge of cars is pretty limited. Can someone please shed some light on what usually happens with a broken chassis, and whether or not repairs are at all safe?

    Regards,

    Sean

I am no expert, but as modifiers change the length of chassis etc by cutting / welding, I would have thought as long as it is done properly it will be OK.

Wherabouts in Mozambique are you as I used to travel a lot between Zimbabwe and Beira and often stopped at the smll towns in between? Always found the locals to be friendly and helpful.
