  • Redex treatment vs Diesel Purge (Easy Lubro Moly)

Hi, I've tried out the Redex treatment by replacing the fuel filter, filling it with Redex then adding the rest of the 1 litre bottle to the tank. I had the tank with only the reserve amount left in (red light just came on).

Took it onto motorway and redlined it using 2nd gear with overdrive off and etc power. I thrashed it for a while then as there was not much fuel left I filled up with £10 of diesel.

To my surprise the engine does seem to be running better and sounds a bit smoother. But the black smoke problem remains so I think it is probably the EGR.

My question is that with the Redex you have to go out and thrash the engine which can't be that good for it really? Then I read about another product called 'Easy Lubro Moly Diesel Purge', this looks to be quite popular and from what I've read maybe better results than Redex.

    Here are some links:

Has anyone here tried Diesel Purge for a Hilux Engine and how does it compare with Redex?

    cheers,
    nige

If it cleans the injectors, that's all you're aiming for. At the end of the day, they'll pretty much all do the same thing, especially when used in concentrate form. Use whichever rocks your boat, in all honesty.
