  • Water pump a tough nut to crack!

    Hi Again,
just on with trying to change the waterpump as alast resort before i write the head off ( See post Under pressure!! ). I have removed a lot of bits and can now see the bottom pully 19mm nut. As the engine is an auto i dont know how to stop the engine turning. I have tried the Mini trick of old and wegded a breaker bar against the bulkhead and turned the engine on the key, No joy, this just spun, in the well fitting socket. Can anyone confirm that this is not an opposit handed thread and that it is possible to remove by mortal means without removing the radiator disconnecting the auto -fluid pipes and using a huge windy gun.
I assume this needs removing to remove the cam belt cover to allow access to the water pump ( which does look fairly recent as i was told when i bought the truck.
Has anyone ever had a failed water pump the new one has a pressed metal impellor. I hope if i get the old one out it is bu99ered.

    Many thanks
    Steve W
