It's a mere pittance for that peace of mind and reliability. You get back what you put in.
yea but when you take into account i change my oil and filter every 4000 k

I was wondering if I'd be berated for mentioning them. I thought I'd slipped through unnoticed.

I checked up on the filters yonks ago with regards to the specifics of most manufacturers. They supply most of the upper band vehicle manufacturers too, don't they? Just about the only manufacturer who never rebadges other filters as their own, either, if I remember correctly?

Every three to five for me too, so I'm in the same boat. Just trying to resist doing 3K changes at the moment and leaving it until 5K instead. Doubt I'll manage to resist though. I still wouldn't consider cutting corners on the filter though. As Apache mentioned in that thread in General, oil is fairly irrelevant if it is changed frequently, but the filter is a totally different beast.

Does that mean there'll a better chance of getting a remote filter adaptor plate for the 1st gen then? The standard 2nd gen size was never covered. What thread size is the 1st gen?
