  • Rear Wheel Bearing...........

    Hello there again..............

Think i need a new bearing on the rear drivers side...........

Is it a job for a garage visit or the driveway on a Sunday afternoon????

Got loads more questions but will dribble them in to you all gently OK????

Great site and full of loads of useful information.

    Many thanks Craig

Depends on your spannering ability and what tools you have.
You really need a press and a special tool to get the bearings off the shaft. It can be done by brute force and I am sure someone will tell you its fine to smash your nicely tempered stress free half shaft onto the garage floor whilst holding onto the backplate, but personally I would do it properly. I replaced both of mine using a press and a fabbed up bearing removal tool.
TBH, most garages are not going to have a Toyota special tool, and they are even less likely to make one. Have a search on here and Yotatech for a guide on how to do it.
