i dont know if it varies for each gen but i have a 2nd gen K Reg and am trying to find out where the front and rear towing points are i.e. when i suck off roading i can be pulled out. i cant see anything obvious to attach to without having to weld something on but any advice would be grand!

There should be a hook at the front, on the chassis rail beside the edge of the bash plate (if you have a bull bar, it may have been removed) the rears are up in the chassis area behind the rear axle, you need to go underneath to see them.

those hooks arent really upto a full-on recovery
they are only really rated for towing or tying the vehicle down

you are also better having twin hooks on the front,
it got a couple 10t rated recovery hooks on front, one on each chassis rail (to avoid distortion of chassis by only pulling on one side)
i use a bridle to even up the load between them
