  • KZN-130 Auto shift patterns

    Hello mates,

I received last week the SupraStick so soon we'll be swapping the manual for the auto tranny.

I'd need a bit of help so I can make the first configuration on the SupraStick, the fine adjustments will be made later as I test the truck.

    I'd need some info...
    • 3.0TD Torque converter stall speed (I think I read somewhere it was 2200rpm, is right?)
    • RPM's of the 1-2, 2-3, 3-O/D shifts in normal D position. I know they are different depending on the TPS but something like a 10% and WOT shifts will be perfect (I can stimate the intermediate shifting points).
    • RPM where the torque converter lock-up locks in 3rd and O/D (Does the stock Surf lock the TC in 2nd? Don't think so but...)
    • RPM of the downshifts from O/D-3, 3-2 and 2-1 in let's say 0-10% TPS

I think this will be enought so I can configure the SSv4 and take the truck for a spin. If not I can always run it in sequential mode and see where I want the truck to shift.

drop apache a mail, i'm sure he'll share any info he's found out in his toying with manually shifting an auto and locking/unlocking the TC, may not have all the answers but i'm sure he'll have some.

Hi David. I dont have a great deal of info at the moment because I haven't been able to do anything due to the kids being off school and having no time to look further into it.

You've actually bought a programmable gearbox ECU haven't you? I'm designing my own simple version, so shift points will be the same as they currently are when in auto, but I'll be able to force a shift, or lock the torque converter at any point. I'll keep you posted when I continue.

Yes, the SupraStick is programmable. I wanted some indications to begin with but probably I'll test the truck in manual mode and then configure it to my taste hehehe
