Guys & Girls,
can you square me up on the following points - information on this stuff is a bit "diffuse" on this site (at least it gave me somwhere to start from) and most others:
All Qs relate to the 3.0l TD Manual machines. 4Runners reffered to are the UK domestic models, Surfs refer to the Japanese Domestic Market ones.
1: Apart from AC and undersealing, are there any other major diffs between the 4Runner and Surf at factory-supply level?
2: What generation are the UK 4Runners?
3: Can I buy accesories off broken JDM Surfs and stick em on UK 4Runners without cutting and chopping - provided their donor vehicles never had to be chopped and cut to accept the kit in the first case? (Bull Bars, racks, Intercooller bonnets, steering protectors, sump protectors....erm and stuff...)
4: Is there a difference in Engine Performance between the JDM and UK models? - my Petrol powered JDM Honda is specified higher BHP than the UK equivalent, one reason given was that the Japanese machines are tuned more aggressively to take advantage of their higher RON fuel.
5: Is there a difference in ride/suspension performance between Surfs and 4Runners?
6: Should I be bothered about the fact that UK 4Runners might have led a more stressed life due to high speed motorway runs in their lifetime in camparison with their JDM stablemates? I am thinking of nitwitted businesmen whapping it up the motorway at un-deisel like speeds turbos whistling to keep up, then driving to their destinations and stopping the engine without giving turbos time to cool down (associated oil denaturing on the spindles KERCHINGGG etc). I am imagining the Japanese counterpart being stuck in heavier traffic/more heavily speed restricted so not getting a chance to stress out the engine..Yes..i might be a bit naive , but at least I am askin!
7: Is there ANYWHERE where there is still a spec list of what came as standard on a GS and a GX UK 4Runner, I couldnt find a single place?
I look forward to your comments!
Udhi
