Why dont you look into doing a solid axle swap?

That will give a 5" lift, an will cost pretty much the same money as your IFS bracket lift kit. then stick some lockers in the diffs an chuck on some beefy tyres an you'll have a truck that is almost unstopable offroad!


And pretty miserable to drive if its mainly a daily driver for the road. But hell, its your money mate

This is why ive said to him a few times to hold back an take a few minutes to work out what he wants.

A FAKE exo is what your getting slammed for....You've obviously not been here long enough! Its fun, don't worry about it, BUT remember this,
4x4's get so much stick ATM, because its our fault the world is going to end, the last thing a serious 4x4 user group is going to approve of is someone want to give their truck all the bad points of a 4x4 (bad mpg, dangerous in an accident, handle crap, etc...) without the justification of actually using it for how its built.

hello guys.
First of all i think some of u r missing a few things with me.
Rod u keep telling me to work out exactly what i want and dont rush ect ect (which i appreciate!) but it wont be for a coulple of Months untill i get all this done and by me asking all these (some silly) questions IS me "working out what i want". im trying to work out what is possible and what things will cost me to take my truck to certain levels.
And Tony u say that half the stuff i want ect is pointless "without the justification of actually using it for how its built". ive mentioned in previous post that i want to turn my truck into a serious off roading veichle and that only for the "meantime" will it be used to the public roads untill i get another run-about to use during the week insted of the truck. and when i do get that other car then my truck will be an off-road truck only. so u see allthough i may be using it on the road for a short while, i will be building it with every intention of keeping it as a weekend off-roader.
And Rod u have very well pointed out to me that the pro's and con's of an exo cage state it to be a waste of money. thak you.

and tony, apparently 4x4 are no longer the cause of global warming. this focus has been moved to COWS!! apparently they are now being fed organic grass and other foods in a special diet along with a kinda "bag" over their arses in order to "trap" their farts!! lol. cows fart out the deadly methane gas that is one of the worst greenhouse gases that is messing up the ozone at the mo.
we need to kill and eat more cows to help to planet! lol
which leads me to think that vegetarians are also to blame as they are not eating any beef!

Gas emissions from flatulent cows could soon be restricted by a EU quota system as penal as that imposed on milk production, an agricultural expert has predicted.

Environmental scientist Professor Frank Convery claims cows breaking wind and belching account for 35% of Ireland's green-house gas emissions. These have been linked to global climate change.

1 more question........if i want to move the sunroof back a bit, whats the best way of doing it? i broke the sun shade thingy and the sun keeps shinning on my head so i need to move it back a bit.

Bibs has a point that its your truck an you should do what you want etc. i agree with her that you should just do what you want.

Its just that for me i spent ages wanting "x" done an then before i knew it i thought "x" wasn't such a good idea anymore.
Im happy with every penny ive spent on my truck an it makes it a lil easier when i see the wallet of recipets etc.

For me, lets say youve got £xxxx in the bank, for pure 'Off Road' use

Id put a solid axle swap on (which is not only awesome but the flex off road is shocking)
Look into some kind of engine swap, Bushwhackers 4.0 V8 is a great example as is steins 5.0ltr TVR/Rover hybrid.
Fit some silly big tyres!
I saw a tread on another website about a guy who trimmed his body work an then made wheel arches out of steel tube an plate, Looked good. Could be an option?!

like ive said sh!t loads, take your time an be 100% sure that your money is going in the right places.

ur not even comming accross as a prick rod m8. i read on the different replies from every1 and chuckle to myself. just didnt want any1 thinking i was some silly 17 year old that knows nothing about mototrs ect. building, fishing and cars is what i love and im far from nieve about them.
anyway i think i explained myself in that previous post. no need to go on about it. we r all like minded people on here at the end of the day. work hard, play hard and get ya hands dirty ect.
and yeah a solid axle swap def is the nuts way to go for off roading. havent really looked into prices on that side of things just yet tho. maybe next year! lol
i think im gona have to buy another surf!! lol. 1 to "look" the nuts on the road and another to "be" the nuts off-road! lol
