ok.i may be shooting myself in the foot here,but like people have said,you only really need a roll cage if your gonna use it,i toyed with the idea on stein,but as its such a big truck 1 1/4 od tube looked silly and puny on it.it really needed to be 2" od.so we are talking of a huge weight factor here.as well as a lot of money.you could use thin walled pipe but you would never bend it without putting a kink in it,so thick walled tube really needs to be used and thats not cheap.(we dont mave a mandrel bender).but if you are serious and dont mind leaving the truck with us for a week then,give me a call.but it wont be for a month or so,we are just bombed out with work.

A full Exo will ruin your MPG and performance, especially once you add this to big tyres and a lift. The extra weight will also means you need harder springs and shocks than are available off the shelf, or it'll fall over going round corners!

Make sure you need it and really want it. Unless your competing there isn't much offroading to do in the UK where you really need a cage unless you rely on speed to get you through, in which case use the money to buy lockers and good tyres and go slower and in more control.

Not dissing exo-cages, but go into it with your eyes open, then hand your cheque book over to Mark and get some tissues.

cheers for all in tips guys! i had no idea how heavy this cage would be! looks like ill pass on it.
unless........(and i know u will all slam me for this but just a thought) how about it be made in something lightweight like ally or whatever? obviously it will have no actuall safety qualities or whatever but will be light and still look good. basically a fake cage if ya know what i mean. i just love the look of it.

Its because they are more suited to a 'rock crawler' type truck.

Yeah sure it looks cool but the pros an cons list pretty much just states that its a waste of money.

Lets say stein is cheap an could do it for spot on £1000 (which for a custom fabricated cage is painfully cheap!!)

There would be a bundle of mods i would do before.

Why dont you look into doing a solid axle swap?

That will give a 5" lift, an will cost pretty much the same money as your IFS bracket lift kit. then stick some lockers in the diffs an chuck on some beefy tyres an you'll have a truck that is almost unstopable offroad!
