  • Air Con Pipes Are Really Hot

I had no light on air con button or clutch engaging on the pump so.....

    Regassed with halfords 134 jobby.

Great - Light now comes on, clutch engages on the pump but no cold air through the ducts (when set to floor) and the pipes to and from the pump are really hot?

    Whats the problem here guys?
Smack it with a 16lb Hammer and it will come off!

You dont have the heater over to hot ?? I know it sounds IOTW material, but it happens

    Bogus

PS, the pipe from the pump should be hot.

      • No, the heaters on cold I wish life was that simple or I was so simple nothing mattered.
      • Oh so one pipe should be really hot and one really cold then?
So I've got two hot pipes? Damn?

i don't see why the pumps should be hot one side of the pump and not the other, surely they should be the same (roughly) either side of the pump, and different either side of the condensor?

Can you see liquid flowing at the little sight glass on he filter/separator thingy?

            • Yes hot on each side shows heat being removed - same on both sides of pump. Hot going into condenser and only mildly chilled coming out the other side - so here is my issue.

            • I see fast passing clouds in the sight glass. Is that correct? It looked like tiny bubbles around the edge but on running looks like clouds. Difficult to tell as the glass is cloudy itself?

Ok I only know the hardcore mechanicals - aircon and luxury are all new to me.

I should have searched the forum under Halfords air con as all the info is there. They are top up cans only.

Just read you need 1000ml of gas and should vaccuum all air out first. That sounds more like it! I only used 414ml. So I have 60% air.

              http://www.coolproducts.info/ is the Halfords stuff.

Cannot vouch for it at this stage. May buy another can. May go to a specialist.

I seem to have a similar problem. Regassed and it does cool the air a little bit, but it's not the cold blast I have had in other vehicles. Where is the filter/separator thingy?

Added another can of the Halfords stuff - much colder now - actually showing the system works. Still not as cold as other vehicles I have experienced.
I think it needs more gas still as has only a max of 850ml (some didn;t come out one can) instead of a healthy 1000ml making the cost of the cans pointless because..................

Halfords will do a full system empty and refill for £49.98.

Why has the sun gone in now its the weekend?
