  • Brakes and Lifts..... Technical question...

Just a quickie that I have been meening to ask for ages....

A mate of mine seems to think that if I do a suspention lift, it cocks up the brake bias...

This is news to me, and without really having looked underneath the truck much I can't see why this would happen... He claimed it happened when he lifted his frontera, something to do with a proportioning valve that activates when truck rocks forward under heavy braking... I have never heard of such a system before....

Can anyone shed any light on this please???
    More Lift.
    More Tyres.
    More Engine.

It really depends on how much the SUSPENSION is lifted. Bodylifts won't affect it.
There's an actuator rod connected to the chassis on the drivers side, the other end is the brake Load Sensing Proportional Valve thats fixed to the rear axle. I raised the LSPV a couple of inches by turning the bracket through 90 degrees and the brakes have been fine. Passed the previous MOTs.

      Cheers Vince...

So I take it it is easily adjustable so its still "right"??
I can't believe after all the reading I have done I have not seen it mentioned yet!

I take it it puts the bias towards the front axle when the nose dives?

I am assuming the 3rd gen has the same setup?

I was under the impression that 3rd gens didn't have them.
