  • body lift questions !

hi all, i have done a 1.5" body lift today and have a few questions,
do i need brackets to raise my front bumper ? i thought only the 2.4s needed the brackets.
can someone tell me how i can find out exactly how much lift over standard my car now has ?
i think it should be 3.5" lift, i have some 33s coming tomorrow will they fit with only a 3.5" lift ?

Look at the gap between the top of the bumper and the bottom of the headlights. If u dont like it, get some bumper brackets made up. U need rad drop brackets though on the 2.4.
I got approx 5 inches lift and my 33's rub on the front on full lock.

    Oh yeah, forgot.
Height measuring. Tape measure from rim to wheel arch. Do that in urs and a standard surf.

Mind you Clayton and myself have 15" rims with 33's on and offset-51 so they will rub but if your 33's are on standard rims then you may just get away without rubbing but normally a 4" lift is enough for 33's.

you can make up the bumper drop brackets easy enough as all they are is a flat bit of metal with the holes drilled thu at the correct spacings

i probably wouldnt be able to make brackets so i would prefer to buy some, so if anyone can make some to fill my 1.5" gap id buy them.
the 4runner is also jumping out of 2nd and 4th gear, i took the figure of eight metal plate off and cut a chunk out of the middle but it is still jumping out !
              any ideas ?

Sounds like the slot that the gear stick goes into needs to be filed out a bit to make it longer. If that makes sense?

just take the bit of the consol and the rubber boot that goes over the gear selector and file some of the body back till the gears don't jump out anymore

I forgot to mention that when doing the body lift i loosened only 1 bolt on the steering column, it was the one under the bonnet next to the splines.
when i was finished and went to tighten it up it had only move about 4mm is that ok or should it have moved more ?

Thats pretty much all mine moved mate! Im not worried...

with 33's an 3.5" of lift - it all comes down to offsets. I dont think you have as large an offset as Rich an Clay - So they should fit ok mate.

We have a member here - Dublin whos truck has 33x12.50 on stock. Ive seen trucks with 4" lift running 35's

Offset is the single biggest pain in the butt!!
