Yup glowplugs, but try leaving the ingnition turned for a bit longer before starting, until you hear a beep, then do it again, see if that does it. Allows the plugs to get really hot, but its usually that you need new ones

Thanks for a fast reply. Tried glow plugs but not injectors. Do you have any info on the configuration of all the small vacuum pipes in the engine bay?

Just a thought but do you use throttle when starting up? As this causes overfuelling and thus lumpiness.

Yeah a bit as it's difficult to get goin without it. Glowplugs are new. Cylinder head has been replaced due to blown head gasket.

you might want to check the buzz bar (cant think of its proper name) cos if it doesn't have good contact then it wont work so well. If you do go down the route of new injectors then get hold of diesel bob, it will set you back a couple of ton but well worth it. you could try some redex or forte (from roughtrax).

                    good luck getting it sorted
it never rain it pours! glad I got the 4X4

You could also try priming the filter before you start. See if that makes any difference. You could have an air leak in the fuel system.
